So a blond walks into a bar...haha, kidding! But this blond from the American Midwest DID walk into a whole new world, and found love along the way.
I am happy to say I got married on August 12th in India to my partner Nathan who is British Jamaican. :) We have had a up and down journey but we have come through and are still going.
Indian society have a judgmental view of black ppl unfortunately, this is due to many things, the ill educated understanding of black ppl by Indian ppl and also the media stereotype of black ppl amongst other things.
my husband and i met and married in less the fifteen days of having met.
Shaun and I have been happily married for a little over 5 years. I'm proud of our relationship and don't understand the stigma that often comes with dating/marrying outside of your race. I love my life and my husband and the beautiful daughter that joined our family last year. She is a lasting testament to our love and super cute too. Don't mean to toot my own horn but....TOOT TOOT. :)
Love really knows no colors or borders.
When two people come together it's normally because they have fallen in love, and in a perfect world "love conquers all." Now, when two people from different races and backgrounds come together it's also because they have fallen in love and once again "love conquers all," right? My husband and I come from different races and backgrounds and did fall in love 17 years ago, married 16 years ago, had a daughter 14 years ago and just so happen to be black (my husband) and white (me). Is this the end of the story...not by a long shot, actually it is just the beginning.
Omar and I met at college perk coffeehouse, a very indie/hippie coffeehouse (it is a real house) near campus. We were both frequent goers of that place, and on August 17, 2007, we happened to be there at the same time :) He was studying in the room my firend and I wanted. I kept looking into the room till he invited us to share it. A week later we met again, still at the coffeehouse. I added him on facebook, and he asked me out on a date.
My husband and I have been happily married for 12+ years. We were married in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the same state that the Lovings wanted to marry in.
We are an interracial couple with 3 multiracial sons.
My husband and I met through Yahoo! Personals in November 2001. I was living in Fresno, and he is from L.A. It started out as friendship only. I let him know from the beginning that I wasn't looking to rush into a relationship just yet, and I wanted him to know me and vice-versa. For the next three months, it seemed like a fairytale. He would call during work and leave voicemails telling me how much he couldn't wait to see me, just saying sweet nothings throughout the day. When we talked at night, his voice was so soothing and beautiful, I felt like I had known him forever.
