Omar and I met at college perk coffeehouse, a very indie/hippie coffeehouse (it is a real house) near campus. We were both frequent goers of that place, and on August 17, 2007, we happened to be there at the same time :) He was studying in the room my firend and I wanted. I kept looking into the room till he invited us to share it. A week later we met again, still at the coffeehouse. I added him on facebook, and he asked me out on a date.
The first date turned into a 3-day mini vacation! now you know how unconventional we are :) It was so great. We've been unseparable ever since. Traveling has become our tradition as we explore new destinations, domestic and international, almost on all school holidays. The relationship went so well that he proposed after 6 months, and we got married 5 weeks later. the summer after we got married we went back to China to visit my parents and friends. They all loved him dearly. We celebrated our first anniversary in April. We feel so lucky to have each other. When Omar sees interacial couples, he always says "awww, interacial love" and is genuinely happy for them.
Too bad college perk was closed a year ago. But it served its purpose for us. We are forever grateful.
