I met my husband 26 years ago when he and I were just 15 and 16 years old. He kissed me for the first time at the Spring, my freshmen year of high school. We broke up after a few months, but remained very good friends.
Over the next 17 years ore friendship grew deeper. He became truely my best friend. We shared all of our joys, heartbreaks, lessons learned from mistakes, accompliahments, fears and dreams with each other. After being out of state for a few years, I returned and he and I immediately picked up the friendship where we left off. Now he was a single father and I was a single mother. And the most surreal thing happened. I fell madly in love with my best friend.
22 years to the day he first kissed me, he proposed, and in June 2007 we were married, with our seven beautiful biracial children as witnesses.
